This program will be an overview of all moving parts of creating a Landscape masterpiece. We will go in to the vision and planning phases of the process. How to choose the subject and how to train yourself to visualize the process and outcome of what you desire.
Next, we’ll dive in to the more technical aspect of the capture itself. How to scout the shot and make the capture with the desired outcome. Using available elements to add balance and harmony to your scene and come away with something dramatic and outside of the norm.
We’ll then explore the selection process and ways to ensure you come away with the best image for production. You’ll learn how to pick images that tell differing stories and how those images can best be used to your benefit.
Finally, we’ll immerse ourselves in the amazing world of photo editing. We’ll look at intermediate and advanced techniques to help you create the mood you wish to convey in your image. This is truly where the magic happens. Last but not least, we’ll ensure you have the best technical process so that your images can be printed in large format with great success. The sky is the limit, don’t miss out!!
ABOUT TOMMY
Tommy White is a Visual Artist and Landscape Photographer in the High Country of North Carolina. Living in the quaint mountain town of Boone,
Tommy is immersed in the heart of old mountain culture and the incredible beauty of the Southern Appalachians.
With a great passion for nature and the outdoors, Tommy enjoys exploring the remote reaches of the Western NC wilderness. His connection with the natural world is best reflected in his dramatic imagery and incredible light and fleeting moments of rare capture.
As a young man, Tommy learned photography shooting Medium Format film. Capture, at that time meant something, as the instant review did not exist. Techniques in the darkroom were the only means of refining your image, so emphasis was placed on the initial capture and being in the right place, at the right time. It was during these early days of trial and error that Tommy learned the value light and how the right light and timing could work in sync with other elements to create the drama and atmosphere that he had long sought after. It was during this time that Tommy avidly studied Art. Using chalks, charcoal and paint, Tommy began to fine tune his artistic vision and enhance his ability to create a scene with power and drama. Learning early on the importance of color, composition, balance and harmony, the art side of his skills eventually merged with his passion for photography and the artist was reborn.
Tommy’s life long passion is evident in his work and his style is bold, and unmistakeable. His talent for capturing rare moments of magic and synergy between elements have become a trademark in his imagery. His favorite challenge is to photograph a popular location in rare conditions, creating a scene unexpected and valued by the viewer as something unique and not often seen. Tommy is presently a full time Photographer, taking on many disciplines of the craft. Tommy now runs two Photography businesses, adding Mountains to Sea Workshops in 2013, with his business partner Alistair Nicol. As a Photography instructor, Tommy enjoys sharing his years of experience and his artistic approach with aspiring photographers. Tommy is especially fond of helping photographers identify and nurture their artistic vision and more importantly, how to bring it to life. An aspect of photography that is frequently overlooked in the common quest for speedy improvement and tomorrow's post.
